I just got my Larue mount yesterday and was messing around w/ it. I know it raises the EO by say .25 in. But I swear when I shoulder the gun and take aim using the irons in the same fashion I used to (pre mount) the dot is in the same place. How can this be? Will I need to re-zero the sight? Seems like I would have to or it would shoot low. Chris |

If you have sighted-in BUIS, you can get a rough zero by taking a sight picture with the BUIS's and then moving the EOTech reticle until it co-locates with the top of the front post. I do this all the time. It can also be done the opposite way: if you have a sighted-in 1x optic, you can sight in a new set of BUIS. |
I sighted in my arms 40 off my eotech zero when I switched the rear buis from dpms to arms. Still have not made it to range after that. Now I have added the Larue mount. I guess what I am saying is it looks like the Eo reticle is still in the same place even though it was raised.

When you're changing bases or "rings" for an optic, you'll typically have to re-sight in anyway. So it could have been just chance. For example, when I switched from a TA51 mount to the Larue ACOG mount, I needed more than 10" of correction. However, if the mount did raise it up exactly 0.25" and didn't add any other translations/rotations, then the POI should have moved very little. -z |
