can anyone recommend a set up that will allow me to remove and remount a scope without needing to rezero? i'd like to be able to easily switch it out with my aimpoint which is mounted with a ARMS 22M68 with cantilever spacer. i'd like to do this as inexpensively as possible.

ARMS #22 rings, about $100. Is the LaRue mount QD? How much for it? It would be another good option.

The Larue M4 scope mount is the best QD mount for an AR-15.  It will run about $185 but return to zero perfectly.  They also have some of the best customer service around.  My new philosophy is to spend a little more one time and not worry about it again.  So my vote is definitely for the M4 Larue mount.  If you don't already know the web address, it is:  www.laruetactical.com.

Grinch has a few ARMS throw lever scope mounts for sale on the EE for $65.

I love the ARMS #22's, but the ones I have now *were* excessively tight on my rail extension, and even tighter on the receiver itself (Bushmaster). Disassembly of the rings, and a few careful minutes with the dremel took care of that, however.

One GREAT thing about the Larue mount is the adjustability of the tension. For this reaon alone, I would really have to say that the Larue is the better mount, between the two.

+1
My Armalite was very rugged and always returned to zero.  For the money it's very hard to beat.

ARMS #22 always repeats zero for me. $109.00.

Don't get me wrong, I love Larue. However I  have had no experience with their scope mounts other than the one I have for my Comapct ACOG. It just seems that if you can buy tried and true QD rings from ARMS for $109...why spend $180.00?

Don't forget the ARMS #37 conversion rings if you need a 1" solution.

LaRue.

I've had the Armalite - it's good, but the LaRue is better.

Larue.

It repeats much better than my ARMS #35 setup.

The ARMS throw levers are pre set so they repeat the tention on and off,  that is why they work so well and are standard equipment on many military sniper weapomns.

thanks for the suggestions everyone. i forgot to mention that i would like the scope to fit over my ARMS 40A2 BUIS. which of these will work?

IIRC, the Armalite sits the scope a tad lower than the ARMS #22's (the #22 high rings) do; Don't know about the Larue mount, though.

How big's the eyebell of the scope you are going to mount?

If you are going off the receiver, the the #22 high's would be the ht. to fit most anything I can think of, and be at the militaty's scope ht. like on both versions of the M12 SPR sniper rifles.

sounds like the arms #22 high rings are what i need. not the most economical, but you get what you pay for i guess. thanks everyone for your help.

Personally, I'd get the optic first, and then pic the ring ht.
