I currently have a YHM rear BUIS but my scope and Larue M4 QD scope mount won't fit over it.  Would an ARMS 40L do the trick?

The eyepiece of the scope is the part that won't clear the rear sight all the way.

Thanks,
Wes

That would be a good way.

The Knights BUIS are also low and fit well on many setups.

Is the ARMS 40L the lowest?  I heard Troy's was the lowest but don't know what to believe as I have never seen either in real life.

From what I have seen, the 40L is as low as anything out there and lower than most I suspect.

There are other sights that are lower... nothing is quite as low as the Knights 300, but the ARMS #40L has options and features most other BUIS's dont. Like being spring loaded and the ability to use both the large and small apperatures. While there are several sights that will probably fit under the scope, I feel the #40L might be the best choice.

Thanks for the help guys.  I am going to go with the 40L then.  I will be placing my order tomorrow after school/work.

Thanks again,
Wes

I used both the Troy and 40 L extensively and the Troy is superior because...

Its just as low
Its lighter
It defaults to large aperature and 40L defaults to small aperature
Troy is more consistant in the up position.. the 40L wiggled a bit
The 40L is slower to deploy due to the shorter throw lever and stiff action
40L is more likely to get the widage knocked ou tof adjustment

I hope you enjoy the 40L it was a fine piece of gear and will serve you well but its better on a precision upper since it defaults to small aperature.  Also the Troy is same plane and the ARMS is not.

Chevytuff19,

FYI, I think it will depend which scope you have in the LaRue M4 mount. I have a Super Sniper in mine, and the #40L is very close. In fact, if I had the Butler Creek cap on the rear, it contacted the #40L. The ocular end of the Super Sniper scope is 1.775" diameter. It bothered me, so I just got a new Troy dual-aperture BUIS and it easily clears the scope with the Butler Creek cap installed. Below is a picture showing the clearance.
