Best price I got on an Aimpoint ML2 was $331 and free shipping, paid about $10 more for same (I own 2) at gunshow here in Houston.

Best price on the M2 I have seen was $382 bucks from the same fella I bought the first ML2 from, but SABLECO is no longer in business and prices I noticed today are around $407 for M2 at Bravo Co. USA, (see them on the Industry forum)

The ML2 is what most non-NV civies use, the M2 has several lower settings which are invisible to most naked eyes but are for use w/ a NV scope, which mounts behind it on the flat-top. Alot of the military guys use them.

FWIW the second ML2 I purchased at the gunshow actually has the M2 diode (?) in it as it has the lower settings of which can only be seen (some of them) in the pitch dark.

The Aimpoint guy I chatted with said that they just probably grabbed the wrong diode when assembly was done, 'cus it is labeled "ML2", but doesn't work like my first ML2. (in that it has the fainter settings, but yes it does get as bright as the first one I bought)

Hope this helps,
Mike

FWIW, the cheapest ML2 was bought from Donnie @ Sableco several years back and the newest ML2 purchased at the local gunshow was purchased this year, so it's not an older model.

It appears in every way to be identical to the old one I got from Donnie, with the exception that as mentioned by others that the first few settings are practically invisible.

Having one which had been used for years I kept wondering until one day I called Aimpoint......

While I got no name, the tech-support guy intimated that at times M2 parts get put in ML2s, (I think he referred to it as a diode, but am not certain on that point) sufficed to say the part that controls the dot brightness does in these cases appear to be similar to the M2s I have seen.

While I have no idea exactly how they work internally, I see no problems with the sight whatsoever other than it takes a couple 3 more clicks to get it to a daylight viewable point.

Whether this is indeed the case or not, no matter to me as I luv my Aimpoints and actually sold my EOTech to a friend after a year or so of trying to decide for myself which "I" preferred, the battery life finally made the decision for me. I like only havin to replace the ML2 batts once a year, I do it on my birthday and never give it a second thought till next year. (no matter that I generally turn one of 'em on everyday, their like the "energizer-bunny")

Hope this helps,
Mike

Midway has the M2 for $357 dealer, and the ML2 for $320 dealer if you have your C&R.

2 more reasons to drop that $30!
