I was at my local shop today and they had a 2MOA Aimpoint 7000SC and a 4MOA version of the COMP M2.

I definately liked the M2 4MOA, but is their a better Aimpoint choice?  It will be for a CAR Bushmaster 14.5/Phantom/ARMS #40 rear sight for  riding on an ARMS SIR.  The price for the COMP M2 was around $360.00 and included a mount.   Seemed like a fair deal?   Will co-witnessessing work with this setup?

As a side note, is getting an ARMS 22M68 mount worth the $100 for mounting the aimpoint, or should I go with the one included in the box?

Thanks!

Do yourself a favor and buy the M2.

Do yourself a favor and get the ML2.  If you are going to run NV, get the M2.

Then put it in a LaRue Tactical mount.

On second thought, I like mcgrubbs suggestion better. Why pay extra for NV settings your probably never going use? You will also be very pleased with the LaRue mount.

Get either or...I think the M2 retains resale value better than the ML2 however.

I have to wonder about that.

I have no use for resale value.  I buy things to use them, not sell them later.

I've never noticed that to be true.

I LIKE MY AIMPOINT IN ITS LARUE TACTICAL CCO MOUNT, QUITE A LOT.

OF COURSE, YOU CAN'T GET THEM ANY MORE WITH THE COLLECTOR GRADE STAINLESS HARDWARE LIKE MINE, WHICH HAS LONG SINCE TAKEN ON A DULL BRONZE TONE. YOU'LL HAVE TO SETTLE FOR BASIC BLACK.

KEEP IN MIND THE ML2 HAS SEVERAL MORE DOT INTENSITY SETTINGS FOR DAYLIGHT USE THAN THE M2 DOES.

THAT PRICE ON THE M2 YOU QUOTED IS QUITE COMPETITIVE, BUT IT DOES NOT COME STOCK WITH A MOUNT. THE OLDER COMP M, HOWEVER DID. BE SURE YOU ARE GETTING THE LATER COMP M2/ML2 WITH 30 TIMES THE BATTERY LIFE OF THE EARLIER VERSION.

Wes, how does the LMT BUIS cowitness with the aimpoint?  Much better than with the EOTech alone?

ALL REAR SIGHT APERTURES ARE ESSENTIALLY THE SAME HEIGHT ABOVE THE FLAT TOP RECEIVER, SO THE REAR SIGHT IS NOT A VARIABLE.

IDEAL COWITNESSING OCCURS WHEN THE AXIS OF THE AIMPOINT OR EOTECH IS ACTUALLY HIGHER THAN THIS, TYPICALLY FROM 1.55" TO 1.7125" WITH THE SUCCESSFUL AIMPOINT MOUNTS OUT THERE. THE EOTECH AXIS IS ALSO 1.4". EOTECH USERS WILL BE WELL SERVED BY THE LARUE EOTECH MOUNT, WHICH GETS THE EOTECH UP ABOUT A QUARTER INCH HIGHER.

THIS PUTS THE IRON SIGHTS IN THE LOWER THIRD OF YOUR FIELD OF VIEW, OUT OF THE WAY, WITH THE DOT CENTERED IN THE OPTIC. THE IRON SIGHTS ARE STILL AVAILABLE IF NEEDED, HOWEVER.

What type of mount do you recommend for co-witnessing?  Arms 22M68?  Do I need an elevated mount to cowitness, or will the ARMS SIR mount suffice?

Thanks!

IF YOU HAVE A SIR, YOU NEED A MOUNT 1.15" HIGH ON AXIS.

THIS WOULD INCLUDE:

ARMS #22M68

LARUE TACTICAL RAS II AIMPOINT MOUNT

GG&G AIMPOINT RING

PRI STANDARD HEIGHT AIMPOINT MOUNT

WE HAVE THE LARUE IN STOCK.
