I'm looking for a one piece mount for a scope with a 50mm AO, that will place the scope at the proper height(cheek weld). Is anyone using the new improved Armalite EX0027 scope mount, and if so what do you like or dislike about it? Does it place the scope far enough forward to allow proper eye relief and is it high enough for a 50mm objective bell to clear the handguards? This is my first attempt to scope a Bushmaster flat top, so any assistance is very much appreciated.

Have you thought about the LaRue  I don't know if it will clear a 50mm but I'm sure Monty or Grant could tell you.

Yes and yes.

I've mounted a 56mm objective with it.

I've got the regular Armalite mount on my AR10T with my 50mm obj Leupold VX-III. I love it because its a rock solid mount due to its one piece design.

thought about a Rock River mount, will easily clear a 50mm although its a little too high in my opinion.

I recently got an Armalite mount to try out.  It has the recoil lug on the bottom.  With this or any rail mount, should I snug it to the front or rear when tightening down for the most rigid mounting?

To the rear seems obvious, but don't things lighter than the gun move forward upon recoil?

Have not been able to locate a Larue yet, due to the demand for them. That was the mount that I was considering. Anyway thanks for the responses and the excellent pic.

This will depend on the scope you have and the cheekweld you prefer.  I use a SS10X42 from SWFA, and I really prefer nose-to-charging handle cheekweld, and I was not able to accomplish that with the Armalite mount.  My solution was to float the barrel and move the mount up to straddle the receiver/HG interface.  Go here for what I'm talking about: photobucket.com/albums/v258/lmm150/?action=view¤t=DSC02159.jpg.  Click the little pic to enlarge it.

In general you want to push the mount forward before tightening it down.  That way it has no where to go, since the rifle moves rearward under recoil.

Yup - I've got a 50MM on my FAL w/ a one piece ARmlite mount - very, very good mount!
