Exactly how secure is the intigrated EOTech mount? Is it some fragile POS or is it military tough?I remember someone saying to me that it basically has no mount...just a few weak screws that will break super easily. Is this true,or just another thing used to get people to get aimpoints?

Thanks,Tyler

The mount is integrated into the unit itself and held in place by a system similar to a carry handle only the knob is smaller and almost fits flush to the side.  I wouldn't say it's flimsy...I have mine cranked down pretty darn tight and it's hasn't broke.

So it isnt a piece of crap?Well, anyone ever heard of the mount screws breaking?I also remember someone talknig about a EOTech on a MP-5 that fell from a helicopter and it worked but the gun didnt.Well,if the mount is strong enough to survive that then it cant be that weak right?Or am I missing something?Plenty of the people here seem to like it fine without having to buy that LaRue mount.

Thanks,Tyler

I think the LaRue mount is really for mounting NV behind it.

I haven't had any trouble with mine but that doesn't mean others haven't had issues.  When I first got my EOTech I tightened it down by hand and hit the range.  After several mags it must of worked it self loose and fell off!  Not only did it fall off but in my feable attempt to save it from hitting the pavement I kicked it up in the air, causing it to launch several yards to my right, hit a cement bench and land on the cement pad

I picked it up and put it right back on, this time turning it another complete turn using a quarter.  Now I can barely get the damn thing off

The moun t is mil-grade tough as long as you follow the mounting instruction, which amounts to tighten the thumb screw as tight as possible with your hand and then use a coin and give the thumb screw another quarter or half turn to secure it.  I have done that for all my EOTech and I never had a sight come loose.

LaRue mount is an excellent alternative.  with the quick release feature on the LaRue mount, you simply secure the EOTech using the supplied allen screw.  it will be tough as a nail.

So far, i'm having pretty good success with the EOTech screw.  I did have a YHM Big knob screw for the EOTech, but they broke when i tried to screw it down too hard.  I was able to unscrew the broken piece out of the EOTech, and put the original screw back on without problems.

That seem to be the problem with the YHM knob, they tend to give too much torque to the screw itself and causing breakage.  I recommand the standard thumb screw or the LaRue mount.

Of course, this is what I did not do the first time out with mine when it came loose.  There's a reason they send instructions with them.  If only I could follow them
