Okay so I decided I want a full size ACOG.  I already have the 3 x 20 amber crosshair mini and love it.  It is mounted on a 20" BM Target 20.  Now for my practical questions:

1.  For the average shooter with mil-surplus Lake City or IMI ammo, will it make a huge difference on accuracy if you get an ACOG calibrated for a 14.5 inch barrel and put it on a 16" or 20" barrel?  Please note, I only shoot at distances between 0-200 yards.

2.  The same question as above if I shoot M193 ammo instead of M855?

Now clearly I would expect some variation on point of impact but what are the "real life" practical implications to my range enjoyment by using the "wrong size barrel" and the "wrong ammo" with the Group Buy ACOG?

Are we talking multiple inchs at 100/200 yards and tons of frustration on my part  or mere millimeters and a hack shooter like me would never ever know the difference.

Thanks in advance guys......

Out to 200 yards it makes no diference. The BDC calibration for all the full size ACOGS is one minute @ 200 yards, regardless of muzzle velocity, ballistic coefficient, pahse of the moon, or anything else. The differences don't show up until you get into the "ladder" portion of the bdc reticle.

Luck,

SD,

Thanks for the reply.  I figured that for general range work out to 200 that there would be very little difference between a 14.5", 16" and 20" barrel or the M193/M855 bullet.  However, it's always best to check with the experts here at AR15.com prior to assuming anything.
