I don't have a digital camera, so I can't show you what my problem is, but I think I can describe it. I have an A3 upper from Model 1, and I bought a removable carry handle that showed up without the rear sight aperature [odd]. I ran to the local store and picked one up for $10. I removed the windage knob on the side and pulled the flat head screw out, no problem. Placed the new aperature on top of the flat spring and tried to screw the flathead screw through it. This is where the problem arose.

I can't get the screw to go through the hole in the aperature. It seems too large. I forced it a little and I think I am messing the threads up on one of the 2. Is there something I should know? This is my first build, so I might be doing something stupid, just let me know. I want to fire it this weekend, and I can w/o a sight, but it seems sorta pointless.

Please help!

Thanks,

It sounds like you're doing it exactly right.  Perhaps you should take the screw out and ensure that it fits in the aperture properly when out of the sight housing.  Once you can confirm that (or confirm that it doesn't work, and get proper replacements), you should be good to go putting it together as you describe.  There is only one standard thread pitch for these parts, so there *should* not be an issue.

That seems to be the problem. The scew will not fit into the aperature at all. I checked online and saw that I was a little over charged at $10 for the piece, so I think that I'm gonna try and return it. I just don't understand why the 2 don't seem to match up. I assumed [WE ALL KNOW WHAT THAT MEANS!] that there was only 1 size screw and all parts are roughly the same.

Maybe I can re-thread one of the 2...? hinking.gif
