I will never get to see these in 3D or touch them until after I own it.  Which is preferred, and why?

Troy, KAC, YHM,...

Are they adjustable for elevation?  Steel or aluminum?  Etc?

The PRI flip up front sight is my favorite.

The KAC and YHM are excellent as well.

I like the looks of the PRI but have a rail type gas manifold. sight mount.  It seems a waste to throw this away and replace it with the PRI.  I guess I'm being cheap.

Is the YHM a solid unit with no slop at the hinge?

Is YHM adjustble for elevation so I can zero the rifle?

How does the GG&G unit rate relative to the YHM, they look similar?

Are there any units to be avoided?

The YHM and GG&G look similar, but you'll notice that the GG&G pivots at the front of the base, allowing it to be fully folded flush without overlapping the handguards.

The YHM pivots from the middle of the base, and won't fold flat with many setups.

I have a YHM FS that mounts on a GB on route with a few other things.  I was told by Paul that they have redesigned the YHM standard GB and FS in one piece model so that it folds lower to avoid any issues of view.  I'll post a review on the stuff as soon as possible.  The YHM will allow the use of the standard FS parts, I'm going to be adding a Trij FS post to my folding model.

THE PRI IS THE BEST GAS BLOCK/FLIP UP FRONT AVAILABLE. IT IS CURRENTLY IN USE ON THE SPR MK 12 MOD 0 BY OUR NATION'S FINEST IN THE WAR ON TERRORISM.

THE PREMIER FOREND RAIL MOUNTABLE FLIP UP FRONT IS THE TROY INDUSTRIES VERSION. IT HAS NO PEER.

I'll second that!

Do you really mean that the Troy does not work when mounted on a Rock River gas block?  I'm awaiting delivery of a 16" Varmint flat top.  It has a Picattiny rail gas block.  Will the Troy work on this?

P.S. - that particular photo of the TROY is a really GREAT photo (a money shot).  It took Troy from unknown to leading contender for me.

Another vote for the Troy Battle Sight, and a pic with it folded [:)]

I'm satisfied with my YHM. It's all steel and very well made. They can be had for $81, a great buy.

how hard/easy is it to adjust the front sight post on that?

I also have a RRA Varminter and am looking at front sights.  So, if I'm hearing right the Troy Ind sight will mount to the RRA gas block.  That correct?

Where can I get one and how much are they?

Also, I can't tell from the picture of the PRI whether you can adjust the front sight pin.  Can you?  If so, how?

You can adjust the post in the PRI.

The Troy sight is designed to mount on railed handguards.  Railed gas blocks are about .4" lower in height, so it will not be compatible for those.

GG&G and Yankee Hill make folding sights for railed gas blocks, and Armalite makes fixed sights for them.

I would stick with the all steel models, like GG&G or YHM.
