So I ordered a TA-50R2, thanks to the advice of everyone on here.

I was wondering if the Trijicon Kill Flashes are "must-haves"?  What exactly are they geared for? Muzzle Flash or just reflection from other stuff? How do they work? Do they affect the view through the scope much at all?
Gimme the low down...thx

They remove reflections from the front lens. They are tiny honeycombs which block all light except that which is coming straigh into the lens.

Suppose they would also protect the front glass from impacts.

Not a must have.

I have one on my TA01NSN. I really like it but I wouldn't say everyone has to have one.

Hmph, they're not too too expensive, perhaps I'll pick one up sometime just to tool around with

Pros:
1.  It protects the front lens.  Dirt does come through the honeycomb but it's still small enough to block larger objects.  I like that I don't have to clean my front lens as often.
2.  It's pretty cheap.
3.  Looks good (in my opinion).

Cons:
1.  It does block out some sunlight so at night, it'll appear a tad darker.
2.  In bright sunlight, you'll see the honey comb pattern when looking through the scope.
