Okay,my choices of personal weapon here in 2ID were M-16A2,or M-9 pistol. So,naturally,I went for the rifle.I want a reflex/reddot sight that I can use with it,a modular rail for a light, and a good sling.Requirements are low cost(this is all out of pocket),and easily attached/detached(since I have to draw and turn it in every day). I've looked at Spec-ops slings, and the EoTech sights, but I'm not sure how I can use one with a fixed carry handle.Maybe a rail along the top of my handguards? Thanks for any help..... |

For a railed handguard, I would look into a KAC M5 RAS. And since you have an A2 reciever, I would contact Grant at www.gandrtactical.com or Wes at www.mstn.biz about either a PRI or ARMS Gooseneck mount like the one pictured here. The EOTech will only allow the use of the iron sights using the PRI low mount or the adjustable-height Bennie Coolie mount. I would recommend the former. The ARMS #39 mount won't work with the EOTech, though it is the best rail of its type, and works great with the AimPoint. Unfortunately, you really aren't going to find anything good enough to carry for cheap. You'll spend at least $450 or so for an EOTech 55x and the PRI mount, and closer to $600 for an AimPoint ML2, ARMS #22M68, and ARMS #39. My personal preference would be the latter setup, but I wouldn't have any problem carrying the former either. No handguard-mounted rail is going to be adequate for optics, and it would be too much of a pain to remove everyday. Either of the setups above would work with your requirements. -Troy |
