Forgive me, I'm new to AR15s and to this board - so I might be a little ignorant on the subject of sights. I'm sure my questions have been addressed before, but:

Is it possible to mount an EoTech on a carry handle? (directly on top of the carry handle, as opposed to the rail extender that makes it hang over the forearm) And also, if it's mounted on a flat-top, doesn't the front apeture get in the way when you're looking through the EoTech?

Hello and welcome to the board. You can mount an EOTech on the top of your carry handle. A good mount is the ARMS #2. The problem with that it is that you cannot co-witness you irons. There are other issues with it as well. You are better off with a Gooseneck rail....

Hi rcoers and welcome!  Like C4 said, the EOTech can go on the carry handle, but does require a mount like the ARMS #2.  The #2 sits in the carry handle and has a rail on top of it that will accept the EOTech.  EOTech's are great for mounting directly to the flattop upper.  You can look through the EOTech and the center 1 MOA dot will be right about the top of the front sight post.  You would also want some type of rear iron sights, either a fixed rear or a flip-up type.

Thanks, Eric and C4. Eric, why is there a need for a rear iron sight? Is this for back-up to the EoTech, or is it used in conjuction w/ the EoTech? Thanks again for your help!

The reason for a backup sight is.......

batteries do die. And it's Murphy's law.

What Greg said. You should also be a good shot with irons before you ever progress to a Dot Optic...
