Ok, I have my flat top and a 20" barrel. I add a Leupold VX II 3-9X40 I have the standard front site post. Do I need to elevate the scope or will it clear. Any suggestions on rings, mounts etc?

I recommend ARMS 22H or Leupold QRW high rings.

Thanks, I guess there are about 100,000 different options. Now i am even more confused!
I dont need a vendor, I need some advice and an answer to my questions please. I will check out your reccomendations though. And the company you linked me to does have an outstanding reputation for sure!

Front sight tower is a non-issue in your case as scope will for the most part look thru the FST.

As to the mount, the best one for your application is probably the Armalite "one-piece" which will if necessary allow for removal and return to zero capability. It should also place your scope at the correct height for a good cheek weld on your stock. Think they run about $90.

I also have the AR one piece on my flat top, used with a Simmons 44mag series scope. Big front bell clears, and front sight not an issue when mine is left flipped up.
I doubt you need to clear it, but some cardboard and tape can mock it up to confirm.
