Is there a device that allows the mounting and use of both a scope (ACOG)and a reflex sight aimpoint, holosight) at the same time. I am trying to outfit my new Armalite AR-10 A4 SOF. I don't want to use both optic at the "same time". I want to be able to mount a Trijicon ACOG and a HOLOsight at the same time and be able to use whichever one I choose. I need a "see through" mount for an AR-10 A4 or something like it....any ideas?

Thanx for your time

You're looking for an ACOG/Dokter(sp) settup.
Couple of members here run the settup, and I'm sure they'll post pics. for you.  I have none, but until they do...
Rest assured its a solid reliable settup, that exists, however the dot sight is not as large as an EO/Aimpoint/HOLO, its clearly a smaller BU type sight, but those that settup their ACOGs w/ the Dokter seam to like the settup.

I was looking for the same thing a little while back.  SULAC02 is right, the members directed me to www.specwargear.com.  They sell an adapter to mount the Dr. on top of a TAO1-NSN rear backup sight.  Mine isn't an NSN so I'm mouting the Dr. at a 1:00 angle with YHM mounts until specwar finishes the one he's making for the TAO1.  I'm not sure about the other ACOGS and a warning, the Dr. Sight is pretty expensive. (about $300)

I am planning on getting a Trijicon TA01B. So I do not know if specwar's mount will work on this...will it? Also what is the quality of the Dr. sight....it looks like a regular red dot scope to me....is it holographic? I could really use some feedback on the advantages and disadvantages of the Dr. scope and HOLOsight.....so many optical configurations and so little money!.....thanks for your help

You're in the same boat as me regarding the specwar mount.  The site says he is currently working on one for the ACOGS without the backup iron sights.  That's us.  I also wanted a red dot scope and looked into all the usuals- Eotech, Aimpoint, OKO, Hakko, Dr., and Optima.  I'm no expert but the consensus here seemed to be Eotech/Aimpoint are the best but they are way too big and bulky to mount in conjunction with an ACOG.  The OKO and Hakko also both seemed like good scopes but they are also too large.  The real comparison for a small red dot seemed to be the Optima(discontinued but resold under the name JPoint or something like that) and the Doctor.  Pretty much everyone on the board seemed to agree that the Dr. is an excellent scope and better than the Optima but more expensive.  It's made out of better materials and the few people that own them rave about them being great.  I'm still waiting for mine.  I ordered the 3rd gen 7 moa from www.thegunsource.com but it has been backordered for about two more weeks.  I noticed on their web page that the price has gone up about $15 from about a week ago.  They seem to be in short supply everywhere, hopefully that is a good sign.  Anyways, the sooner the specwar guy finishes that mount, the sooner I won't have to be tilting the gun at an angle for close up shots.  Some of the guys here with the setup have pictures if you can find them.  Hopefully this has been some help.
