Hi Guys:

I'm contemplating various mounting solutions for an A2 upper.  I've seen the forward cantilevered carry handle mounts, and have seen pics of all kinds of stuff mounted on various handguard rails.

Does anyone have any first hand experience with either option.

The scout-style cantilever mounts worry me a bit, mostly because of the cantilevered design.   A little pressure on the forward end could translate into significant stress on the upper, and I would think some failure to hold zero.

THe handguard mounts also trouble me.  Typical handguard seem to have a fair amount of slop in them.  I would imagine that any optics mounted on handguards are going to suffer from a wandering zero.

Am I missing something here?  What gives?

The ARMS gooseneck mount will be one of your best options for a secure carry handle mount.  It secures in two locations on the carry handle.

For handguard mounting, that is cost prohibitive.  You would need to get a FF tube with rails, and mounting the FF tube is a pain for the post-ban people.  There are MANY options available, and much depends on the depth of the pocket the $$ is stored in.  Welcome to the obsession. HTH

The #39 is the best out there. If you don't press on it, it won't and doesn't flex, as your holding the hand guard, not the rail.
