These are the ones I know of, any other suggestions?  Interestingly the Bushmaster part has a "YHM-" part number, leading one to believe it is also made by Yankee Hill, even though it doesn't appear on the YH website...

Yankee Hill Machine, Inc. YHM-9493S $48

DPMS makes one too, but some have not had very good luck with it.

Cut carry handle, free if you already have the carry handle [;)]

The ARMS #40 is the best fold down as it gets out of the way for various optic use, has lg. and small apertures, goes back into battery if hit by accident opposed to others that you have to push back into position, and the most rugged of the fold downs.

I like the one from Cav-Arms.  Its a copy of the one used on the C7, only the Cav-Arms version is aluminum instead of plastic.

With a XS Sights same plane rear aperture it would be a slick setup.

My point is that it acts like a fixed, as it always stays up there if you want it to, just like a fixed, unless it is locked down. Best of both worlds.

That's actually not a bad point really.  Any idea what the #40 weighs?  I'm trying to find weights on all of these things.
A.R.M.S. #40 $100+/-

I think though, that if I were going "best of both worlds" route, I'd tend towards the new MAD from GG&G.  Only problem is it's the most expensive.
GG&G MAD $140

Forest, thanks for pointing me to the cavarms model.  I love the fact that it uses the A1 style adjustments but A2 aperatures.  Only problem I see is that I'd like to be able to mount it further back so it has the same eye relief as a standard AR sight.  Really, that's the problem so far with all but the LMT.

Cavarms Stand Alone Rear Sight $65

I agree with Jack that the #40 does offer the capability of being a fixed BUIS with its spring. We all know its very rugged and offers a lot of features others dont. Its smaller than almost all of the others which is nice too.

The MAD now has a locking mechanism. I'd MUCH preffer to have spring action than a lock. With a hard smack it seems to me like the lock might actually break the sight compared to the spring which will just get bumped down and then pop back up. I've also not had much luck with my MAD...

I have one of the old C-7 sights but have not used the new one from Cav Arms. I didnt really like the C-7 sight much at all, nothing really wrong with it, it just didnt do anything for me. The plastic did make it seem quite flimsy. I wasnt really thrilled with the A1 type adjustments which requited something other than my fingers to adjust.

I have a LMT coming in as soon as possible!!! I cant wait to get it. If you didnt want to go with the #40 and just use it flipped up (I have done this quite a bit actually) I would go with the LMT. The Bushmaster is ok, but uses screws to mount and I'd quickly spend the little extra money for the LMT.

I'd skip the DPMS just on reputation. Three people I know who have them have nothing but complaints.

The Yankee Hill looks a lot like the C-7 or Cav Arms one, but with an A2 reticle and A2 adjustment. Still not really thrilled with what looks like screws to mount. Its not too expensive either.

I like the C7/Cav Arms PRECISELY because of its A1 type adjustment.  Once zeroed you shouldn't need to screw with it.  This prevents it from being accidental/on-purpose un zeroeed.

I wish they used this system with the ARMS#40 - then it WOULD be a perfect sight...

I would tend to agree.  I have yet to figure out why everyone thinks they need to jimmy with their sights.  I have fixed sights on my pistols, and I like the A1 style for ARs.

I have an LMT as my primary sight, and I REALLY like it. But I've also had a #40 as a BUIS, and really liked it as well.

As much as I like the LMT, I'd say go with an ARMS #40, and install an XS same-plane aperture.

FWIW, Brownells has an American Spirit Arms flip up sight that is almost identical to the GG&G....it is only $79.95. Bare with me here, but is the appeal about the A1 adjustment on the C7sight the fact that it cannot be bumped off zero? Thanks!

ASA makes a bunch of crap.  In this case they make (or import) a cheaply made knock-off of somebody elses product.  The real flip-up from GG&G isn't the best flip-up design available, but at least the materials and build quality are good.
