Can someone explain to me how the double battery module works?
Does it change an aimpoint from a 3v to a 6v?
No instructions came with mine and I have no idea what the advanatage is yet.

Thanks.

You can store a spare in the extended cap, but you still have to open it up and whitch them around.

Ok so it not used as anything more than storage?

Marine,

That is correct. This option mearly allows you to safely transport an additional battery in the field in a secure fashion. It does not provide any supplemental power to the primary battery.

All in all the new Aimpoints have a very generous run time between battery swaps.

A single battery will give between 1000-10,000 hours of operation. The Aimpoint batteries are so small you can fit 10-12 in a Tango Down Battle Grip, 5-6 in a vertical foregrip (with a hollow core for storage) and probably (since I haven't tried it) around 10-12 in a Vltor stock. If you have a rifle with all of the above accessories, you have a minimum of 25,000 hours of operation time.

Yes it does change it to "6V" for a brighter dot.

thinman, that's different than the double battery module (top of the page).  That's cool though.  I didn't know there was a battery "upgrade".

OOPS! I guess I need to pay a little more attention to the wording!

i'd be affraid to use 6volts in a system designed for 3...to me it just seems like asking to fry the electronics.

I also would have to recommend against this.  All electronics have a certain margin of error.  By upping the power to 6v, you are eliminating that margin.  Even if the components CAN take 6v, you WILL burn up the electronics quicker.
