What's the difference? What are the pros and cons of each? Thanks |
| The ARMS #40 has a cut "horizon line", for the distance aperature, and the #40A has a regular full size A2 aperature. Personally, I don't like either one, and I installed a customized A1 aperature in mine. This, apparently, allowed the the stock Bushmaster front sight post on my M4 barrel to work with the #40, as I was able to sight it in without using the taller sight post. |

The 40's small aperture is cut on top to allow the lowest possible profile when the sight is stowed. They also added a sighting line on top and a slight notch to make the top part into a 600m sight. But some folks have trouble using the standard aperture, and don't like it. The 40A uses a standard A2 aperture. It requires a bit more clearance when stowed. Note that the aperture is replacable with any standard AR aperture, just like a regular A2 sight. -Troy |
