I haven't personally seen a TA01NSN, but do own the TA01. I love it. The fact that the whole recticle is illuminated in low light levels is great. As already mentioned, the TA01NSN only illuminates the center portion of the cross hairs. The back up sights seem worthless. I have an ARMS #40 BUIS for that very purpose.
So, IMHO, I think the $600 I spent on my TA01 was far better of an investment for my personal shooting habits than the $749 (or more) that a TA01NSN would have cost. Now, TA01 @ $600 + ARMS #40 BUIS @ $90 isn't much cheaper than the $749 for the TA01NSN, but again, IMHO, is a much better combination. Now, if you have a night vision monocular to mount with the TA01NSN, that might be another story. |

I may be wrong, but the BDC scale on the TA01 and TA01NSN are different. If I understand correctly, the TA01 is calibrated for it being mounted on a carry handle shooting 55 gr. ammo out of a 20" barrel, whereas, the TA01NSN is calibrated for being mounted on a flattop, shooting 62 gr. out of a 14.5" barrel. Any clarification on this? If true, I think the NSN would serve my purposes better. Still, one could buy a new ar15 for the cost of an NSN, or two pretty decent leupolds, variable powered even.

THE -NSN MODEL WORKS SURPRISINGLY WELL WITH AN OMNI-IV OR OMNI-V PVS-14 MOUNTED IN FRONT OF THE SCOPE. POI SHIFT IS MINIMAL, UNDER 1.5 MOA, IN MY PERSONAL EXPERIENCE.

I've looked through mine with AN-PVS-7B's, it works, as long as you can keep them aligned. But the NSN definitely is NVG usable.
