I'm considering purchasing a EOTech sight but was wondering what the difference was in these two types of reticles;

Factory pre-mounted with 2D Standard reticle pattern (511.A65)

Factory pre-mounted with 1MOA Dot reticle pattern (511.D1)

I'm interested in the shorter "N" battery powered hooded version, who has the best prices?

Thanks!

A65 is the standard 2D reticle, it has a 65MOA outer circle and a 1MOA inner dot, it is in my opinion the best available reticle for CQB to 200 yards.

D1 is just a simple 1MOA dot, it is only good for precision shooting.

There is a group buy for the EOTEch on this board, check out the thread posted below.  the price for a 511 is 260.00

As SMG has covered the reticle question, suggest ya check my ramblin "aside" to this post and bear in mind that the "N" version has even less battery life.....http://www.ar15.com/forums/topic.html?b=3&f=18&t=156098&w=myTopicPop

It's not too ramblin, but something to consider IMHO, when looking at purchase of a "red-dot" type optic.

Mr Wilson is correct on the battery life, but I had my 551 for an year, I had chamged the battery only twice.  the newer revision have increase the battery life on the 551 to about a 100-150 hours, and the 552 to about 500-800 hours.

Only thing going for the Aimpoint is the battery life.  [:)]

If you want to read some more rumbling, here is a little review I did.
