I once again need opinions and assistance from you AR pros! If your shooting a post-ban scoped AR-15 in low light how do you keep the muzle flash from blinding you? Will looking through a scope make the flash even brighter? Can you buy a filter for the scope to filter out the flash? Do certain types of scopes deal better with this problem than others? Thanks for any help you can provide!! I greatly appreciate it!!.... |

I can't say about a post 20-inch barrel, as the only 20-inchers i've ever fired were either while I was in the Army, or a pre-ban rifle, BUT... A 16 or 14.5-inch barrel will usually make a pretty good-sized flash (especially with a Smith brake on it--HOLY SH*T, what a flash, it'll blind you in bright sunlight, no kidding!). One way to cure this is to put an AK74-type muzzle brake on it; this redirects the flash to the side of the rifle, but also redirects a lot of the noise. Any filter for a scope that would reduce the effect of the flash would be pretty much like putting sunglasses on, which isn't going to help you see anything in low light, so that's out. |
