Ok, I'm torn between the RAS and RASII. I like the looks of both, but with the RASII I can't use my carring. Does anyone know if the military is going to switch to the RAS II? What aimpoint mounts will work with the RASII? I have a rail grabber mount now. Also, any recommendations on flip up rear sights? Thanks JR |
| It's pretty limited and "purpose" oriented, since it nullifies the ablility to use a carry handle. The "hump" is either helpful, or a burden, depending on your setup. I use to have a RAS II, but switched to a SIR "M", and couldn't be happier! The SIR allows almost any setup you can imagine and includes a built-in BUIS. |

Quoted: Does anyone know if the military is going to switch to the RAS II? I have not heard any military units using the RAS2, I think they are under evaluation Quoted: What aimpoint mounts will work with the RASII? I have a rail grabber mount now. Rail grabber will work fine on the receiver rail, or the front section of the RAS2, it will be too high for the hump mount. You might be better off with a GG&G, Aimpoint's new X-wide mount, ARMS#22/M68, or the KAS mount. Quoted: Also, any recommendations on flip up rear sights? If you are using a BUIS, why do you care if the carrying handle would fit or not?? I would suggest either a KAC 300m or an ARMS #40. |

I've been looking at buis and I've found a few that I like. ARMS #40, yankee hill rear sight, or the kac 600 meter. I like the idea of having elevation adjustment on the rear sight, but I'm leaning towards the ARMS. Due to the fact it flips down out of the way. As far as going with the RAS FF...I have a phantom flash hider permantly attached to my barrel and I wasn't to fond of the idea of having to remove my front sight post. as for the SIR, it just don't appeal to me...kinda looks like a Judge Dread gun. |
