Sorry, I have some stupid questions on Optima 2000.
I just got an Optima 2000 reddot from auction that isn't come with manual. It seems the red dot is always on and I am not sure where the battery is.
Does the red dot is supposed to have always on ? How do I change the battery when it runs out ?

Thanks in advanced.

I think it turns itself off when the cover is put back on the sight

When the coveris in place, it is supposed to turn the light out - kinda like the refrige, we can only hope.
Regarding the battery, there are two hex head bolts at the rear which hold the top of the unit down to the base, remove these and seperate the top from the bottom.  You will now see that the battery is inside the base of the top half.  Carefully pry the battery out being careful not to damage the two copper contacts. Re-install in reverse order. Hope this helps.

When the cover is on the unit goes to "sleep", if you cup it in your hands and peer in you can actually watch it dim down to a very faint dot. Supposedly the battery will last upwards of 4 years as long as you cover it when not in use.

Try using (2) 2032 batteries. the dot will be alot briter but it will not last as long. I had this configuration for 2 years on my EAA Witness 9x21
