Hey all...
After hearing some good advice I looked at some Bushnell scopes.
I think after doing a little deeper research.... I'm going to drop a little more $ and go with a Bushnell Elite 4200 series scope.

I have some basic scope questions I was hoping you could answer for me.

I was looking between 3 Bushnell scopes:

1.) Model #42-4165M
4-16x50
Matte Finish
Multi-X Reticle

2.)Model #42-6244M
6-24x40
Matte Finish
Multi-X Reticle

3.)Model #42-8324M
8-32x40
Matte Finish
Multi-X Reticle

I was planning to mount one of these on my bushmaster A3.
I kind of liked the 4-16X50.....
What's your opinion on these 3 scopes?
Any one you like better than the other?

Personally, I don't see much use for more than 16x.  As the scopes get bigger, they have less field of view and less windage & elevation adjustment.  Plus, the 50mm objective on the 4-16x is very nice.  There is a noticable difference between 50mm and 40mm objectives.

The 4200s are great scopes.  Very bright, finger adjustable w/e, Rain Guard, and the power ring turns easy.

Edited to add:  The free jacket is actually pretty nice.

I have the Elite 6x24x40 on a DPMS 24" Special, but I shot at groundhogs at 300 and 400 yards. Unless you a going to shoot at a very long range I would stay with the 4x16x50. I think the 8x32 is just way too much scope or any AR15.

Also think of the size of these scopes. My 6x24 is 17 inches long without the sunshade, and the 8x32 is even longer. I do not think the rifle feels right with a scope that in too big and long. I had a Tasco Custom Shop on the DPMS at first, but that thing was huge. I changed to the Elite 6x24,and everything feels right.

I have several Elite scopes I think they are an excellent scope for the money.
