just got an M4gery with a flat top receiver.  I have a detach carry handle with scope mount integrated.

can I get a referral on optics?  Ideally, I'd like to alternate between iron sights and optics (red dot).

Well, you'll either need a Rail system replacing the handguards in order to use the Carry habdle sight, OR you need a new back up sight to sit behind whatever red dot sight you end up getting, OR you can use a weaver rail that fits on the carry handle, but that will make the sight sit way up high.

Vinny,

Huh?

Likely needs a Rear sight (ARMS #40 85.00 at Keislers) and if he uses an EoTech he needs nothing else, assuming a front sight on his gas block.  Why buy a flat top and then mount stuff on other thingies...

Huh?  I've never seen a detachable handle with a scope mount built into it.

Ideally, I'd like to alternate between iron sights and optics (red dot).

If you mean switch between them on the gun, then look at the ARMS mounts for the red-dot.  With good mounts you should be able to swap them out and keep the zero.

If you mean switch betwen them w/o changing the gun, then you'd either need an extended rail of some sort to get the optic in front of the handle like Vinnie says, or you have to either go with irons that aren't as long (like the ARMS#40) or chop the handle.

He's talking about the RRA tactical carry handle, it's a nice design but is barely a carry handle.  Here's a pic (it's at the bottom) -

Oh, OK.  I don't think that'd work well as a carry handle, but who uses the handle for carrying anyway?  It looks like it'd do OK as an iron sight and a riser for the red-dot, as long as the rings didn't block the view through the sights and the dot scope is short enough.
