tell me if i am incorrect.
arms40 buis has an a2 rear aperature. zero small aperature at 25m. this gives you a 200m zero with the large ap. and a 300m zero with the small one. (theroretical 500m with notch)

what about not being able to go up a click like on the a2? (2 clicks for carry handle) how does that effect things?
what if i wanted to use the santose zero? how would that effect the large aperature?
damn, i am confused. [:\]

oops, found this by forrest, here www.ar15.com/forums/topic.html?b=3&f=12&t=134731&w=searchPop

"Here are some thoughts on zeroing:
1) Don't zero at 100 yards. It is a really limited trajectory. If you really need a 100 yard zero set the dial to bottom out 3 clicks below 8/3 (see the Santose IBZ on how to do this at the above mentioned site). Then adjust the range dial so it is 2 clicks below 8/3 and zero at 50 yards. Now the number on your elevation wheel will be correct, and if you bottom it out (at 8/3 -3) you will have a 100 yard zero, go up 1 more click (to 8/3 -2) and you will have a great all-purpose zero.

2) Don't zero at 25 yards. Zeroing at 25 yards gives you a far zero around 400 meters. The round gets REALLY high around 175M (such that you could miss a man sized target whein aiming COM). If you must zero at 25 yards set the dial to '4' for rifles and 4 +2 clicks for carbines. Doing this will get the elevation wheel correct.

3) Zeroing at 25 Meters was orginally done with the M16A1 using the L (long range - 375M) aperture. Because with M193 the crossover points are 25M & 375M. Once zeroed we flipped over to the unmarked aperture for a 43M/250M battlesight zero.

4) With the new M16A2s the thought was you could zero at 25M with the elevation wheel set to 8/3 +1 click (and just set to 8/3 or 6/3 for the M4) and zero with M855. Sadly this has been proven to be incorrect and when using this method the rounds are hitting HIGH at 300M.

If you want a very good zero that works fairly well with A1 & A2 sights or with either M193 or M855 then you should try the Santose Improved Battlesight Zero (IBZ) as mentioned at the above listed sight."

We had some problems zeroing an ARMS #40 today. Not enought range of correction in the front sight post to zero the small aperature at 200M.

What does ARMS recomend?

I zeroed the big aperture at 50 yards.  It is my understanding that this gives the correct 300 meter zero with the little aperture.

Or you could zero the little aperture at 36 meters and get the same result.

Just got back from the range attempting to sight in my new flattop RRA M4 upper with an ARMS #40 flip up sight I bought from Pete_in_NH. Anybody else have to back the front sight post almost all the way out to get a 30 meter zero?
