AR Shooters:   I just got my Comp M2 mounted on the ARMS M68 throw lever mount and #38ex rail.  Now for zeroing at 25 or 50 yards, do you float the dot in the middle of the tube or set it on top of the front sight post?  Thanks for any input.

Right on top of the front sight post.

Zeroing Done! without firing a shot!

Always, always confirm with live fire...

Initially, try and have the dot in the center of the tube.  I forget where I read it, but suposidly it will make a difference later on if you try and shoot long distance.  I think it may have been in the instructions themselves, but I forget exactly where at the moment.

Thanks AR guys:   I did confirm with live fire.  Initially I zeroed at 25 yards using the front sight post as a reference point.  The reason I'm wondering about the correct zero is at 100 yards the five round group was clustered about ten inches high, so I cranked it down a few clicks to print at two to three inches high at 100.  It was then I noticed the ARMS throw lever base was loose where it attaches to the ring.  I quit and tightened screws using loctite as well.  Will try again soon.

JStor, The aimpoint should be centered in the tube as close to possible when zeroing as it will make a difference at distance.
I've been using these things for about 12 years and had always zeroed at 100 POA/POI and then held up/down at different ranges.
A member (named Forrest....I think?)posted a comment that 50 yards was optimal. I went out and tested it and I have to agree....Great point blank zero out to about 300 yards (3-5" high/low through all ranges out to 300.

The short answer is try a 50 yard zero and I think you'll be happy.
good luck

HERE IS AN EXCELLENT SITE TO ANSWER YOUR QUESTION...
TO QUOTE FROM groups.msn.com/TheMarylandAR15ShootersSite/aimointm68zeroingmethod.msnw

"At ranges of 150 meters and beyond, the effects of parallax are minimal. However, at ranges of 25 meters and closer, parallax exists and the shooter must ensure that the red dot is centered while zeroing. The aiming method (two eyes open or one eye open) used to zero must be used to engage targets (both eyes open is HIGHLY recommended). Each click of the adjustment screw makes a 5/32" (4mm) movement of the point of impact at 25 meters (1/2 MOA)."

For an explanation on why a 50yd Zero is optimum, check this out groups.msn.com/TheMarylandAR15ShootersSite/improvedbattlesightzero.msnw

good luck

Thanks Shooters:  For the links and set up advice.  I'll try it out this afternoon.  Good shooting to all.

Ye'up, those damn screws for the m68 throw lever suck.  I replaced the originals with some machine screws that have a larger head.  These screws fill the screw holes flush with the base, offering more surface are for the loc-tite to freeze.
