I just got a dozen of the black E2s delivered today, but I'm not sure when I'll get a chance to test them.
They definitely look and feel like a quality mag. |
|
I just ordered one of the Grey 30 rounders ( the only color they had in stock) to try.

I did not know about these new Okay E2 mags until today. Will have to order a handful and try them out in the near future. I always had good luck with my old green follower USGI Okay mags, despite still being filled with Iraqi dust.

Yes, Magpul L-Plates. I put them on all of my metal mags. I purchased them separately. Everything was bought from Primary Arms because I got tired of waiting on Botach. View Quote View All Quotes View All Quotes Quoted:

I'm happy enough with the normal ones. What's the allure of these?

I shot 540 rounds through six Surefeed E2’s. They ran flawlessly as expected. Shot fine magazine prone, locked back on last shot, and dropped freely from the KAC lower I was shooting. I didn’t expect anything less. I’ll probably pick up a case of 100 once Botach has them back in stock.

I have a question. What type of anti tilt follower is installed in the regular Surefeed Mags sold by Botach?
Thanks. |

Quoted: They are down to 356 of the Black E2's. I just ordered 20 more about 3 hours ago and they were still in the 400's. This morning it was showing like 650 so they are going fast. 10 or more is $10 each and you can get free shipping. 20 E2 Mags for $200 shipped, can't beat that with a stick. I did get the notification that's the reason I found out they where back in stock. Last time I got ten...its crazy cause when I got the email. I rushed to buy 5 and remembered about the 6 pack...glad I checked, cause It was like 63 bucks for only 5 and the 6 pack was under 60 bucks for 6. Cant beat it. They are nice mags for sure. |

Just ordered 6 more myself. My wife would kill me if she ever counted my mags.

I ordered a dozen of the black last night. There were over 300 left. I have had great luck with regular Okay's. Looking forward to getting these.
Edit......just looked again and they have 266 left. Go get'em boys. Before I have to make another order |

I received my 6 pack in black.
From a purely cosmetic standpoint, I do prefer the Black Teflon However the dry film aren't bad either. |

Quoted: Dry film E2s show way more wear and tear....mine haven't even been used yet and look battle worn. Oddly enough my OG surefeed dry film mags don't get beat up like that. View Quote The insertion gauge that they use to test the mags is what scuffs the film. The Teflon holds up much better. I have 12 year old Teflon Coated Mags that look better than my recently bought gray dry film E2s. |

I think it’s just all the texture on the E2 mags - the raised bumps and Surefeed letters - that are rubbing together during shipping and giving the dry lube that shiny, worn look. The standard mags are relatively smooth by comparison.

The overwhelming vast majority of wear is at the top of the mag; where it's put into the. insertion gauge View Quote I finally had the chance to go to the range after a six month hiatus and test one of my E2s. I only had time to shoot a hundred rounds because I wanted to function test my Bushmaster XM15-E2S that I just recently overhauled and then moved on to a pistol. This was, as we like to say here, only a sample size of one, with one load of 30 rounds through it, but I ran into a little surprising difficulty, unfortunately. Ammunition was a Walmart Federal value pack of 55 gr .223. I shot, in order, a 20-round TangoDown ARC, a 20-round Lancer, an old Gen 1 PMAG, and a Black E2 mag. This was the first time using the TD ARC and the E2. The E2S had been loaded with IMI M193 for six more months, but I switched it out for the .223 this morning because I haven’t had the Bushmaster gauged for 5.56 yet and wanted to play it safe. The first three mags went smoothly, but about 15 rounds into the E2, it felt like the bolt had locked back. When I checked the chamber, I saw that it had tried to feed a round but jammed the tip of the round into the flat face of the receiver below the feed ramps. I had forgotten that the Bushmaster doesn’t have M4 feed ramps. I locked the bolt back, dropped the mag, and reloaded. In the last 15 rounds, it misfed like that two more times, although one time the bolt went forward and finished chambering the round when I wiggled the magazine. The last five rounds or so functioned fine. Not sure what’s going on, but I’m not confident in this Bushmaster, so I’m not going to blame the mag yet. M4 feedramps help but shouldn’t be necessary for reliable feeding. I’m going to keep putting rounds through this mag in this rifle and others and see if it happens again. Attached File |

My three have shiny areas like that, but they’re almost all just spots where the finish was “buffed” by the insertion testing and catch the light so they look like bare metal. They’re just shiner parts in the overall gray finish. I only found a few tiny spots that are actual scratches down to the aluminum, most on the edges of the rear spine.
