OK guys, one of my biggest problems over the years has been storage solutions for magazines. Lets assume that the mags will be loaded so any storage system would need to handle the weight. There are also mags for multiple platforms, M4/M16, SR25, MP5, Glock, M&P, 1911, etc. What have y'all found that works best? Pics are always appreciated. |

I was given a huge E. European/soviet weapons crate (48Lx24Wx13D) that I sectioned off to store all my pistol, rifle mags and drums in.
I just open up one lid and get the magazines out that I need, without needing to go through a bunch of containers and cans etc... for this or that magazine http://www.hunt101.com/data/500/magazine_crate.jpg you don't need to hunt around for a weapons crate like that, it's easy enough to make one yourself without too much skill |

I use these for rifle magazines:
MTM Large Box And these for pistol. They stack, even on different sizes. MTM Medium boxes |

I use these for empty mags, but they could work for loaded too, although they wouldn't be sealed. They'll hold 10-11 AR mags of various types, or a bunch of pistol mags, or about 10 20rd AR10 mags. Some mags, like 30rounders with Ranger plates, or 25rd AR10 mags don't quite fit. But they stack and fit together well and aren't too expensive. Good for organizing mags if you have a lot of varied types in small quantities.

I mainly use these slightly used or new USGI .50 CAL ammo boxes, some 5.56 ammo that I buy are already in this steel box on stripper clips and cloth bandoleers. When I used up all my ammo I could put about 10 loaded 30 rd USGI mags plus a few pistol mags, I either place thin foam sheets or cardboard between the mags to avoid mag finish scratches. Sometimes a few months ago, I saw these at my local Costco Wholesale stores brand new green USGI ammo cans, they rarely have them so if you find them available get some. I also tried larger USGI 40mm grenade boxes but they're a lot heavier to move around than the .50 cal. smaller ammo cans. When I go to the shooting range I also use a .50 cal. size ammo can but the synthetic MTM commercial cans, because I don't want to dent my USGI steel cans, those are mainly for my long term storage. https://www.amazon.com/MTM-Tactical-Magazines-Magazine-TMCLE/dp/B019LIO7V4/ref=pd_sbs_200_4?_encoding=UTF8&pd_rd_i=B019LIO7V4&pd_rd_r=Q5A1EDCDSKTMBDT698JS&pd_rd_w=1TPa9&pd_rd_wg=eOlcY&psc=1&refRID=Q5A1EDCDSKTMBDT698JS&tag=vglnk-c102-20 ETA: Fixed picture link |

Quoted:
A fat fifty can holds 28 Pmags or 32 GI mags. This is how I store my "ready reserve". 28 mags, loaded per can. They are not so heavy that you can't manage them unlike some of the other options and the mags fit really well, won't rattle around etc..... 6 cans is MORE than enough....for me anyway.... |

Those look pretty handy. I have a bunch of the MTM .50 cal-sized boxes (from back when they had the single latch design) that I use for all sorts of storage. I also recommend having at least one U.S. Grunt Gear 10 Mag Purse Bag for transporting extra reloads, bugging out, whatever. A little pricey but very well-made. They also have a version with an extra side pocket with loops for 6 pistol mags (that's the one I actually ordered). |

The center channel holds AR mags perfectly, and the sides hold glock mags well. I have two, they connect together via latches. I use one for storage and the other for my range kit. it was a water proof seal. |
