I realize you said your practitioner already screwed your mag catch in some, but the bolt head still doesn't look flush with the button face to me, in the pic you posted. The bolt head/shaft of the magazine catch should be screwed in until it is flush with the face of the magazine release button - lacking that, it might not have sufficient force or overlap to retain magazines at the proper height and presentation angle.
Now, add to that, that current-gen polymer mags vary widely in specifications, compared to milspec GI aluminum mags of yesteryear, and that might be the source of your issue. Not to knock whomever it is that makes hexmags, but they're entering a very crowded space already dominated both by the almost-60 year old GI aluminum metal mag body design, but also the pmag dominated aftermarket poly mag space, and I'd tend to assign faults to the newcomer, not the existing systems. |

The spring is not under enough tension to properly hold the mag in. David |

These guys are right.
And since you mentioned gunsmith, I'll assume you're not sure how. Push the mag release in. You'll notice the other side goes out push the mag release as far in as you can, then rotate the long side clockwise a couple 3 times then align and try again. What we are seeing is that your mag release button is sticking out farther than it should. Txl |

Quoted: I had my gun smith look at it because he built this project for me and its the oddest thing because with any other mags (mscar and magpul) does not act this way, could it be that the mag is damaged? well then there is your problem. could be those mags suck. |
| I have similar problems with Hexmags. I have 15 PMags for my Ruger AR556 (low-end AR-15) and never had one issue with them but I bought 2 Hexmags on sale and I have to slam them in if the bolt is forward, and half the time if the bolt is back and I slam the hexmag in then release the bolt it chambers a round and the mag drops out of the receiver. I am buying a higher-end AR-15 soon so I am interested in seeing how they work in that. |
