Meh. So what happens when you pick up a normal mag?

It's another unneeded solution desparetely in search of a problem.

Definitely a solution looking for a problem. Also feels kind of like a shill to me

Optional change to the manual of arms.  Without retraining, increases the possibility of NDs.  Interesting idea - have heard of them before.

Rather more interested in the Unimag.

No thanks. Deviates from the normal "empty mag. Change mag." mantra. In times of stress, the last thing you need is complexity ("well with THIS mag, the BHO means one more round, but reload. With THAT mag, BHO means empty, load fresh mag, etc"). NO. Stick with consistency. I applaud the "outside the box thinking", but for this case.... NO.
Maybe it's just me. I'm from an AK background (simpler is better. With an AK, the solution is always "rack the CH". Fresh mags, Dud, FTE, etc... all solved by racking the CH) and the AR is already over complicated (IMHO) in operation for what it is/does. This just amplifies that weakness (again IMHO) even more.

This.

Plus, I prefer to load a fresh mag on an open bolt. Loading a full mag on a closed bolt, even if the mag is designed for it, introduces the potential for a failure to lock situation. I also don't agree that this new idea really saves you time, it just changes the order in which you hit the bolt release. Also, more moving parts, springs to potentially fail...

I applaud Yankee ingenuity, but this one is not for me.

This.

I like the idea of being informed when I have one round left, rather than only being informed when I'm empty. I actually think it's an improvement, but because it's 'different', it also creates a problem; or at least a complication.

Kind of like new gun designs themselves. I think the Tavor may well be a better defensive gun than my CAR's; but I'm not changing at this stage. "Old dogs" and all that...

Notice the stoppage at 12 seconds. Not inspiring.
Also wouldn't it be slower to have your bolt locked back, push the bolt release to chamber the last rand, drop magazine, put in fresh magazine.

Seems faster to drop mag, load mag, hit bolt release.

Same steps, just in a different order. I have muscle memory from running the AR/M16 platform for close to 30 years. I'm not interested in learning something new that is of dubious value...

I tried thinking of a way that this improvement actually could be, and i can't. I can see a scenario where using this mag could actually put you at a disadvantage. So you fire 30 rounds, your bolt locks open, you stop, hit the bolt release and chamber round #31 and drop your now empty mag. You know you have one round chambered, but before you can insert a fresh mag, you have a threat and fire your chambered round. Now your rifle is empty and the bolt is closed on an empty chamber...

What if the mag does not lock the action open after round #30 and it locks open after #31? If you don't look into the action to see the live round (time and attention waster) you could close the bolt on an empty chamber thinking you are loaded when iin fact you are not. If the little spring in the follower fails, this could happen...

I see no advantage to this

Retraining to know to hit the bolt release, then drop the mag

Switching over all my other mags to this follower (what about my ets, lancer, hexmags, etc?)

Solution looking for a problem

No thanks. Not-so-smart mag.
