| Picked up some (what I think) are pre-ban ar/m16 mags. They are NIW with a NSN number on the bag. I see TAPCO on the floor plate, just wondered if anybody new if TAPCO had made mags for the military back in the day. They have the black follower, and are gray in color. Any info appreciated!! |

The clear plastic bag has " NSN: 1005-00-921-5004 Magazine Assembly 30 Rd 5.56 MM I each" The base plate on the bottom of the mag has " TAPCO, INC
PO Box 818 Smyrna ,Georgia 30081" I wonder if they just manufactured the base plate ? I don't know how to post pictures, MEDIC-0372 I can email you a few, the three mags that I bought are all still in the wrapper. Thanks for the replies, just trying to find out what I have. Haven't seen these markings before. |

Several years back, Tapco offered mag rebuild kits, consisting of x 30rd springs, (orange or green) non-tilt followers, and/or floorplates (if memory serves me right). They may well have offered complete Al mags, I do remember them getting into polymer mags. I believe they offered 2 choices of spring as options. I used many of those spring kits, I don't remember ever using their named floorplates.
I don't know if this helps, they bought these parts and bagged them. They were of average quality, I do not know whose aluminum mag bodies they would use. A good inspection (and testing) will prove those mags as good or bad. |
