Why do some colt 30rd mags have a cage code and some do not?
Are they built to the same specs?

If there is no Cage Code it's either VERY early or more likely a fake.

A cage code just means that at one point the manufacturer/supplier applied for and was issued one. I does not necessarily indicated they are a current supplier...
