Will a non-pmag (green USGI) follower work in a PMag body?

In a pinch or SHTF scenario and needed to replace a broken follower would this contingency plan be viable?

If a follower goes south, cannibalize the rest of the Pmag for parts.

wala, instant pmag repair kit..and the spring could be used in a USGI mag if need be.

Just curious, not trying to be snarky here. But has anyone broken a mag follower, or seen or heard of such a thing? Only thing I can think of is a KB. But from what I remember, the entire Pmag turns to frag, correct?

I remember someone posting pics of Cproducts mags still in the plastic with shattered followers. Probably 5 years ago.

Except for the mentioned example of CRAProducts followers breaking I don't think it happens.  For the most part on quality mags the follower and floorplate seem to be bulletproof (no pun intended).  Springs can wear out, bodies can wear out and/or break.

I have a question that seems relevant in here..

Can a usgi spring be used in a pmag? Never thought to compare them when I had em apart.

Yes.

Although you'll have to paint your orange "gas gauge" line on the spring if you have windowed PMAGs.

No it will not work.  Spring maybe in a pinch.

This is why two is one and one is none
