I bought 3 of the opaque foliage colored 30 round mags to try!
Bottom line, I loved them, perhaps even more then the Pmags (flame suit on!)

Went back and bought 6 more black at 18.99 each, out the door!

Thats good when you think, it only took me 10 minutes to drive back home!

Also got some Glock factory 17 17rounders at 32.00 out the door!

Like 'em just fine, but not as much as Pmags. The L5 works well, but I do like no-tilt followers. The AWMs look cool, but grit gets between the mag body and steel lips over time, had one fail because of that. That could be fixed by adding an attachment point on either side midways of the feed lips. Nice concept, I'd carry the L5s without hesitation, but AWMs are sexy range mags to me. L5 20rnd mags are my favs.

I too would rather have Lancer's than Pmags.  They work better for one of the main calibers I shoot, the .458 SOCOM.  Pmags don't work at all with the bullets I shoot and the Lancers do.  Lancers work no matter what cartridge I shove in (so long as it is 5.56 or .458 SOCOM-don't have or want a BO).  Since I switched over to Lancer's a few years back I only shoot non-Lancer mags in calibers they do not make them in, yet.

What type of AO are you running in as far as the grit goes?  I'm out east, plenty of moisture, little dust, less gravel and sand.  If you're out west it's one thing, I lived in Idaho for a while, lots of grit, dust, sand, gravel, etc. flying around there.

only have 1 lancer mag but I love it. I'd like to get more to supplement my M2 and M3 pmags and troy battlemags.

Lancer AWMs are my favorite magazine. Tough as nails and fit better in more webgear than PMags do.

Cuyahoga... I'm in SC, LOTS of sand (even more if you are shooting in a sand pit). Seriously, if they put an attachment point midway on the metal lips, AWMs would be nice.... or better yet, mold in the bottom half of the metal, like they did on the L5s. I think a lot of the Lancer mania is simply hype because they are newer and "cooler".

I'm still torn between my lancer 10 rounders and my pmag 10 rounders. So far I have been using the lancers the most.

Coming from USGI since I've never trusted PMAGS......I really like the Lancer AWM.  After I can get a decent round count out of them I'll consider them gtg.

I use 3GunGear pouches and they are tight and smooth.

These are really nicely designed mags.

I've only had one problem with AWM's. On one of mine the steel plate on the side popped out a little bit and caused it to not drop free. I contacted Lancer to fix it and they gladly offered to, but not before I remedied it myself by prying the feed lips open a little bit. It held true til about a month ago and seemed to pop back out a little bit and is gritty to insert and no longer drops free. My other ones are perfect though, and I have enough mags I don't want to bother sending it to them though I know they'll fix it. Mags are disposabke and I don't want to pay $10 to get a $15 mag fixed I guess.

AWM's and PMAG's are far and away my two favorite magazines. Once I get caught up on ammo I'll definitely be buying more of both.

Where are Lancers in stock?

I'm looking for translucent ones.  Is there any difference between the translucent ones and non-translucent ones?

Thanks.

The last batch of Lancer mags I got in were from Brownells, translucent smoke.

Budsgunshop has L5AWM 30rd translucent smoke mags in stock for $16.41 each, best deal I could find.

I have both the Lancer's and Pmags. If pressed to choose between the two I'd go with Lancers.

My go to mags are Lancer AWMs. No failures to date.

I have Lancers and like them.  I have more Pmags though.  Since I don't have to choose one over the other I'll keep both and plenty of USGI with confidence in all of them.  For me, no reason to have the Troy, Tapco or others that seem to be just a P-mag wanna be.

I have 10 of the translucent smoke AWMs and I really like them.

I have had no failures in my Lancer AWMs or Gen 2 / Gen 3 Pmags.

I'd be happy with either / all.

I've been getting rid of Pmags and going with USGI and Lancer. if nothing else, the lancer fit mag pouches better than Pmags.

Is there any difference in durability between the black and translucent magazines?  I see a big price difference at Bud's between them.

It's pretty hard to beat a spring steel top/feed lips that come on the new Lancers.

I think the difference is merely cosmetic.

I do want the translucent ones though.

The opaque magazines use a different material, which is significantly stronger than that used by the translucent magazines.  Whether that translates into a real-world benefit, I don't know.

The area that is problematic with ALL plastic magazines is where the Lancers have steel.

They're all good, but translucent makes the most sense to me, being able to glance at your round count is nice.
