Bought 4 new Troy Battle Mags (my first) and they marginally lock in the lower (not a real positive snap) and won't pick up the first round with 30 in. If I stuff them to 28 or 29 rounds they seem to work fine. Happens in both DD and PSA lowers. What gives?
ETA: Never had any trouble in the two guns with PMags, Tapco, cheapies. |

Pmags have a little more room in them then most 30 round mags. Just treat the Troys like GI mags and load 28. |

Mine work great but I do have a Troy lower so I would hope so. What about a tiny slap to the bottom to seat the magazine and see if that helps? Is it like mako elander hard to snap in or just not pmag smooth? I smacked them and all that. No nothing when they are full. Snap in nicely when empty or with 28 rounds. They simply are over full with 30 rounds. |

I spent 10 years in the Army and never heard of such nonsense. |

Yes, make all the faces you want. A 30 round mag is designed for 30 rounds. The old load to 28 is absolute BS. |

It really is that simple. |

Again they snap in fine empty, They work great starting with 28 or 29 rounds. I only tried starting with bolt closed as I would with any other magazine. Next time I will try with bolt open and 30 rounds. |

I heard about this with the Mako mags too. Its a spring issue. the spring has too much tension in it when its brand new. For now just use it with the 28 or 29. Store them loaded to 30 for a few weeks and your problem will probably be solved. This happens with some new magazines from time to time. Never happens with Pmags because they come ready to go. Troy is a reputable company though. If there is really a problem then shoot them an email. But I would use them for a while and break them in. Probably wont be an issue after a week or two...
Heres the video I saw about the Mako E-lander mags vs the Pmags... Around the 1 minute mark he says there is a little more room in the PMag. and about 7 seconds later, he shows how hard it is to get the mako mag in on a closed bolt. He has another video up about a week later where he compares the elander to USGI mags and he stored it for a week and it seems to be easier after the week. Youtube Vid about Elander |
