I have a steel 30 round ProMag magazine that not only fits tight in the mag well of my rifle, but it bottoms out against the bcg before engaging the mag catch.  Is this a know issue?  Is there an easy fix for the mag?  None of my pmags have this issue.  The suspect mag is brand new, I would rather not have to return it if I don't have to.  I have other mags but more is always better right?

Crush the ProMag and buy better magazines.

Pro mags have been junk with a lifetime warranty since the last ban . Avoid pro mag , triple K and USA mags and you. life will be better.

I have had luck with Triple K in my 1911 and have it hate wilson combat. other than that this is correct. If you have to get a Promag mind as well put magpul followers in it

There are other good brands of 1911 magazine other than Wilson Combat, which are rather good (like the original 47, or 47A more than the 8 rounders, but YMMV).

With the number of good AR magazines on the market, even if backordered, there is no reason to buy lesser magazines that are made to a price point first.

all I have is some old production 20's  they run, heavy little steel bastards. maybe they ain't supposed to work? these run fine, would'nt want to be on the recieving end! about 130 of those little shits in that tubb. all oiled up.

I like GI 20's got me over 200 of them, not really no use for 30's, this rifle was'nt made for a 30 rnd mag. just the way it was designed!

and no those steel pro mags ain't GI 20's just xtra shit.........they do run though!

I was a Cabela's a few years ago and noticed that the Triple-Ks there were actually repackaged NHMTG magazines.

It wasn't made for those K&S pins neither, but you seem to have made them work.
I agree with you on the USGI straight 20's though....can't beat 'em.
But I do prefer the USGI 30's myself, and they do run flawlessly for me.
ProMag 30's....not so much.

"Out of Spec" IS the spec for ProMags (based on my experience with them in my p229).  I have four collecting dust in a cabinet that I won't even use for range mags.

I have a couple of Promags for my Paraordnance P14-45. I had to squish both of them in a vice to get them to to the correct dimensions to drop free out of the gun, and one had to have some dremel work on the catch area to engage the mag catch. I have since lost one, and the other seems to work after being massaged... I got a pair of mags with my GSG-5 PK made by Promag which I looked at with suspicion, but they work great, just like the factory GSG-5 mags I have. They are saving wear and tear on my factory mags. So it's hit or miss with them, they are the Century of Mags...

seems most steel mags need the catch filed up a bit, look at the recent elander thread.

those old ban steel made in england mags did too, really made in a asian country. there are some old threads on these. most got by with them way back when. I still have many NIW I have'nt even opened from the nasty days.

That sounds like better-than-average performance for a ProMag.

That's good to know. I have one 20-round ProMag, still NIW, that I never got around to trying because of all the bad press I've read.

some supplier here had the old straight 20's in the ban days. actually quite a few here bought them back then. The best steel mags were the `$8.00 blued steel brit/england 30's. upgraded with magpul followers.
