I got board one day and "upgraded" my bench loader. The old one was maple I built in two parts but I had some old plasitc I wanted to try and use to make a new one. The old one still works and had loaded thousands of mags, but I wanted a cool looking one to sooth the hipster in me. anyways I took 4 sheets of 1/4 acrylic. glued 2 of them together. Cut the arch and "lips" so that a 556 round would fit under them. glued sheet 3 and 4 on, then cut out the mag slot. The arc is 16" radius, and all cut with a 1.2" spiral bit on a router. I did have to buy special glue for this. It is worth it when you load a lot, ie have a m16 or a couple of them It takes me about 14 hours with the BenchLula to load 600 magazines with loose unboxed ammo

Just speaking out loud and not trying to derail the thread and ovation deserved, but.......I wonder if one could be made to load USGI stripper clips. Somehow incorporate a USGI spoon as a "stop for the stripper clip", but with an additional "overtravel " stop. I know there is much more friction from the stripper clip, but ..... Man, would that make that chore easier... Something for me to ponder. |

Good Lord...I was actually thinking about picking one up, but not at anywhere near that price. I could see getting one for ~$75-$90, but the utility isn't there for that kind of money. |
