Did you replace the springs or cut them?  If you replaced them, are there companies making factory springs for 15-round mags?  Isn't NJ the only state with a 15-round limit.  Does the spring just sit on the rivets? Why does the floorplate have to be sealed when there are already rivets blocking the follower?

There were various magazine capacity schemes in the mid-late 80's, and due to the popularity of 15rd 9mm pistols, that number was seen as a compromise. (There's also talk that certain manufacturers supported it to kill sales of the Glock 17 which was getting extremely popular at that time)

Another scheme involved both a 5rd limit coupled with "Saturday Night Special" schemes, that would have banned all pistols AND revolvers.

I've hear a lot of horror stories from the range I go to (Range 14) and don't want to be hassle by the likes of TadJackson or RSO that's on a power trip because it MAY looks illegal.

Also, I'm sorry.  
 


There are 3 rivets total, 1 in the front and 1 in the back to prevent the follower from going further down.  The rivet on the side of the magazine isn't necessary, I just wanted some more tension on the springs pushing up on the follower.  The permanently sealed base plate is also not necessary but I just wanted some extra insurance.  Pretty much a use-once magazine because you can't disassemble or do anything to it without completely destroying it.

OP - YOU deliberately did this to your mags?  I mean... You deliberately made them a permenent change?  I get the ban state commie state laws thing, but I don'tget why you made them an absolutely permnent fix.  I used to live in Chgo, then other parts of IL.  Inever expected living in TX, butI'm sooo happy I didnt resort to permanent fixes for everything while I was in Daleyland. Maybe I'm just not getting something here...

I'm wondering this, too. If you can only have 15 rounds, then why not start with 20 round mags? The 30 rounders hang a couple more inches out of the bottom of the gun. 20 round mags are much easier for shooting off of a bench, prone, etc.

all4bao, I found a company that makes permanently fixed 15rd pmags. Nothing looks touched but they cannot be modified (makes the state happy). Let me know if ya want the link.

Warlord31, Jersey requires that the magazine be "permanantly" fixed. It cannot be modifed to accept more rounds
