I was going to post this in another post but I think others should see it easier and comment on it.

I got a new lot of USGI magazines with tan follower about a year back that I have sitting inside my closet.  Seems like every one of these magazines are out of spec on either the front or rear spines.  This is due to just the way the metal is bent and assembled.  This can happen to any USGI mag.  I found a neat trick to get some of them back in spec.  Aluminum is a soft metal.  Using a small hammer and multiple blows to the magazine in certain trouble high spots on the front and back will correct the magazines dimensions.  These are the areas that did not receive a very good bend at assembly.  I have fixed a few magazines this way and even one that a seller gave to me because he thought it was junk.  The technique does take a bit of work to get the mag back in spec but I have done atleast half dozen mags this way.

However,  I am supprised that these mags have such a big fit issue.  I have 5 different lowers I can try them in.  Durring the technique sometimes the mag will fit one lower perfect but since each lower is a different size it will still stick in another.  I have talked to my buddy that got back from Afganistan and he swares up and down about Pmags.  He wont touch USGI mags.  I am an advocate of the new tan follower mags and I sure do love my Vietnam era 20s but if this is the quality coming out well I can understand the frustrations.  I like the new spring too the mags are easier to take apart because the spring is a bit narrower and the new follower design just falls right out and doesnt hang up.

These problem mags are from center industries
