I have some unmarked mags that I'm looking to have validated as preban. The following pics are of 7.62x39 Frankenmags that I've acquired. I understand that USA produced mags prior to the ban and went out of business before/at the start of the ban so I know they are preban.
There are two different types of welds on the mags I have. There are the USA "flap" welds: 
And there are the the "spot" welds of the unknown mags: 
I belive I can assume that the 20 round unmarked mags are also USA due to the welds and the three partial striations along the mag: 
Now I have another unmarked mag that I assume is USA, but the striations extend farther and the overall mag length is shorter. Can I assume this is USA?: 
In conclusion I believe that the five mags pictured below are USA mags, correct me if I'm wrong: 
The following mags have the "spot" welds that differ from what I presume to be USA mags. They also have their striations extend the entire length of the mag with two bars on the bottom: 
I assume the four mags on the right are of the same manufactuerer, due to the welds and long striations, though the 40 rounder is marked made in China, while the others are not: 
What is confusing me most are the mags that have striations and two bars, but different welds: 
I've read that G-Tech, Scherer and maybe DPMS produced a type of Frankenmag and I believe the ones with the "spot" welds and long striations are one of those. Any insight is much appreciated. Thank you!!! |
