The spring and follower will come out when the planets align and you hold your mouth right.

They are made to come out.

Tips:

Tilt the follower over sideways and flex the magazine wall slightly to relieve pressure

Manipulate the spring loop end so it is loose on the follower attachment point

The spring and follower will come out while still attached to each other if you do it right

Obviously, take off floor plate and pull the spring all the way out. Hold mag in left hand with ammo feed side to your left, floor plate side to the right. Grip the follower (alloy I'm assuming) by the rear with your right hand and tilt it front side down into the mag. Next, rotate the rear of the follower up and to the left. It should slip past the rear top (as you are looking at it) floor plate tab with little effort and come right out.

I find it generally comes out a bit easier by rotating it in the direction without the follower "hump" in the way, but it'll come out in either direction.
