Looks aside, are there any downfalls to rolling some non-slip coating like Herculiner on the bottom half of a mag?

Here's few I can think of:

It will eat up your mag pouches.

It may cause more than one mag to come out of your pouch.

Well, it may still be worth a try. I see some sticky tape for Magpuls and have not heard any issues with that method.

Have you thought about trying some grip tape?
