YES I KNOW, PMAGS, USGI, Lancer are better, and I have these.  There is some very cheap pricing on Thermold, like 4 bucks a mag for 20's, so any good?

That's a great price for range mags. I have a bunch that I keep loaded for range trips.

I picked up a couple of the $4.99 ones from CDNN.  All of them has the feed lips trimmed improperly and wouldn't hold more than 5 rounds before most, or all of them came shooting out.  The feed lips are cut at an angle and there is very little holding the shoulder of the round.  A complete waste of cash for me.

I have a few from the pre ban days that run just fine. When brand new they do not fit as nice as the p mags but after a few rounds work in just fine.

Buy them

For those interested, CDNN has them for $4.99 or $3.99 in case qty.

Anyone have a 30rd one that they don't want? All I need is the mag body and floorplate. The feed lips I don't care about either. I am needing a cheap one to chop up for my AR57. I just can't do it to a Pmag.

Let me know how much and I will pay shipping also.

Thanks in advance.

I don't have any 20s, but I have some 30s that are probably some of my best...very reliable.

I've used the 30 round (DD USA Pre-ban) and thought they were some of the best AR mags I've ever used.  Never had one crap out on me through 1000's of rounds.  For this kind of money, give em a try.  20 rounders are nice for shooting off a bench.

I bought ten of the "Master Moulder" Thermold 20 rounders in 1994, a few months before the ban.  I wanted them to use as range mags.  I figured I'd take one, use it until the first FTF, then move on to number two.  THOUSANDS of rounds later––still on number one.  I'd say I got my money's worth––and counting.

I had 7 old 1988 dated 30 rd Thermolds that I put thousands of rounds thru with my issued M16A2.  This were issued to us in Bad Tolz, Germany along with some plastic stripper clips and guides.  The stripper clips were good for burning in cold wet weather.  Had one that cracked and split down the spine for about an inch.  It would still function but only used it for a range mag (marked).  Still have 6 squirreled away but haven't used them since the mid 90s as my personnel AR had a SGW/Oly lower that wouldn't take them.  They do fit in my newer Stag lower.  But have butt loads of USGI, HKs and PMags so they sit in the footlocker with all the other mags.

I've got a shitload of the old D&Ds from the early 90s.  The only thing I did to them was trim the mold flashing off of the follower and then put a VERY thin coat of breakfree in them.  They have always run like a charm.  I love 'em

I had a few in the mid - late 90's. Two had feelips that cracked and broke off. One happened as I was about to insert it into the magwell....28 rounds arced about 5 feet into into the air, then rained back down upon me.

Only had the Wilson 30's, probably got at least 2K rounds through each of them with no issues, even in freezing temps.

Well, they have good springs, I guess...

I have a bunch of, I think, the mold 21s or mold 22s from the late 90's.

Never had a problem of any kind. Kept them loaded for years, worked great when I took them to the range.

For you guys who have 30 rnd Thermolds, I just scored 2 dozen new pre-ban USA made Thermold mags. I know a magpul anti-tilt follower will not fit as a direct replacement, but can one be easily modified or can the USGI green followers be easily modified to fit?  They have black followers in them now. Thanks in advance.

I've got Thermolds that I use with 5 different types of firearms and they all work just fine...don't burn your hand when you leave them out in the sun when you're shooting in Arizona in the summer time either.

I bought some at the same time too.  Unfortunately, I had a few instances of a cartridge not feeding out of these magazines.  I had the same problem with some Ramline translucent magazines.  So, I replaced the springs in the Ramline magazines with regular AR15 magazine springs and put the Ramline springs in the "Master Moulder" magazines.  After that, all were reliable.

Should not be necessary. My 30s have never missed a beat.

Correct.  There's nothing wrong with Thermold followers.

I had one that did that too. It also had a maple leaf on the side of it.

I read on here that the Canadians used a different polymer.

Thanks guys. You always hear about switching the followers to anti-tilt in the aluminum mags, just didn't know if it was necessary in these.

You have too load the mag fully then the mag expands to hold the rounds correctly.  That is why I just use them for range mags but they have also been 100% for me so for 4.99 I ordered 15 more.  They work good for me I just use them for shooting prone or off a bench.
