I currently have 7 Magpul Maglevel magazines that have worked flawlessly for me.  However, I've read in a couple threads here lately about Gen 1, 2, and 3 Magpul magazines.  What are the differences in these magazines?

I don't recall them being referred to in that way.

There's the "old" style and the "new" style, which people refer to as "Revision M"

(the colors are the same, BTW)

It sounds like you are talking about followers - not mags.

That may very well be it.  Guess I got confused there somehow.  Which style followers do the old/new style magazines use then?

The Gen1-2-3 followers refer to Magpul followers for USGI aluminum mags, not the followers that are in Pmags.

Do the ridges "appear" thinner, because the ridges are actually thinner (mag width with ridge is reduced), or is it because the plastic under the ridge increased thickness (mag width with ridge is same as before)?

I hope this question makes sense. Because this leads to 1 of 2 results, 1) the reinforcing ridges are reduced and width fits USGI spec pouch better, or 2) the rest of plastic under the ridges is thicker and mag is now stronger.

The ribbing is thinner for better compatibility with mag pouches and couplers AND the magazine is slightly stronger (due to improved processing).
