Im new to the AR world. Purchased a pre-manufactured rifle from DPMS bout 6 months ago and decided to build another one a few weeks ago from scratch. After building the rifle it seems that none of the current magazines i have used with my panther want to release shells into the chamber with the new rifle. Magazine latches into place firmly, no slack at all. Is this a problem with my build? Or problems with magazines, because they work fine and chamber shells consistently in the panther yet usually only every other shell will get chambered in my build. New rifle has 24 in bull barrel and is way heavier than my 16 in panther, resulting in less recoil. Could this also be a factor?

what exactly did you build?  a new lower, or a new upper?

I built a complete new rifle using a stripped RRA lower and topped it with a bull barrel varmint kit from JT Distributing, i used the lower parts kit that came with the kit from JT.

I'm having a hard time understanding what you are trying to say, but I don't think this is going to be a magazine issue. Do these mags function and fit in your other rifle? If they do it clearly isn't a magazine problem

Mags work fine in Panther,  Whenever they are used in the gun i built, thats when i experience the problem of rounds not being chambered. In more depth here is what i experience, load the mag, insert into the gun, it locks in fine, release the bolt, shoot.....bang,bang, click........pull the charging handle back and the wasnt a round chambered. sometimes it does it every 2-3 rounds other times it may do it as high as 6-8 rounds but nevertheless it always tends to do this.

It sounds like short stroke.  I had a similar problem & thought it might be mags.  It wasn't.  The roll pin hole was out of speck causing misalignment of
gas tube & gas port.  Check the alignment of you gas block/ front sight/gas tube.  Pull your front sight drop a 1\8" bit down the port with the gas tube
installed.  If it doesn't fit is misaligned\drilled block.  If thats ok check alignment on barrel gas port.   There is a whole section of trouble shooting the short
stroke on this site, but it usually gas problem.  What type of block\sight housing are you using?

Ill give this a try, The gas block is for the bull barrel with a single rail on the top

What kind of ammo are you using?  OAL can effect feeding as well.

PMC Bronze- cheap stuff  but it feeds fine with same mags in the panther.

Doesn't sound like ammo.
