I tried out my Beta mag (AR15 100rd) for the first time yesterday. I loaded 40rds in it and after 33rds it stopped feeding it was jammed half way down the feed tower, some how the first 2rds I loaded got stuck between the dummy rounds. I took it apart and cleared it but I noticed one belt of dummy rounds has a round with a cone shaped back on it instead of square, does it matter where this cone shaped round goes?

Did you (1) use the loading tool, and (2) use graphite ?

I didn't use the loader that came with the beta mag because I don't have any stripper clips, I didn't use any graphite either I'm not sure where to put it I didn't get any instructions with it.

My guess is that the lack of graphite is a big part of your problem - as you are loading the magazine, you are supposed to squirt a puff of graphite powder in on top of the loaded rounds maybe every 20th round or so. If you don't have any of the graphite that they ship with the magazine, run down to Home Depot and get a couple of the little white tubes of graphite powder they sell in their lock department.

I also recommend you use a mag loader. If you don't have one, get a MagLULA ($20) as it will support the feed lips as the rounds are fed into the mag.

you don't need to have strippers to use the loader- you just throw the rounds in there and smash them down-go buy one

use graphite

in my experience the maglula won't work with beta mags without modification.  you'd need to take the little lip off that grips the side of the mag because it hits on the drum on that side

Thanks Car15DJ that's what I needed

I did use a loader but not the one that comes with the Beta Mag I used This loader which works great on regular mags.

Hopefully it was a fluke and I won't have any more problems

The LULA loader works fine with it.  The left side of the loader will rub the left drum, but you can gently bend it back to get it off.  I've done it several times when unloading the drums with no problems.
