| I'd assume theres no possible way to fit 20 rounds into a 10rd mag. Is this correct? I'm not looking to try it, but rather making sure this mag I got with the rifle is in fact a 20 rounder. Do 10 and 20 round mags have different dimensions? Thanks! |

I've got a ban era 10 rd mag. It's the same size as the 20 but it's blocked to only hold 10. The 20 rd mag doesn't' use a standard floor plate. Removing the block would block useless.
Somebody will probably tell you that a little creative dremel work will allow you to make a higher capacity mag. While true you'd be in violation of NY law. |

It may help all to know that the mag came from a reputable gun dealer in a preban Colt SP1 Just because the rifle is preban that doesn't mean the mag is. Your best bet is to load it up and see what happens. If it does hold more then ten you need to find the date stamp. If it's before 9/94 then you're GTG. If not then it probably came from a no ban state and you shouldn't have it. |

And my main reason for starting this thread is to be sure that I'm not putting 20 rounds into a 10 round mag. I felt pretty dumb asking in the first place. My 30 round mags also do not have date stamps so I saved the plastic they came in. The 30 rounders are dated 1991 so those are good to go. |
