[ARCHIVED THREAD] - Magazine Split

Has anyone ever had a problem with mags splitting? I never did either until I got my 6.8 SPC, first mag I loaded would not go into the receiver so I looked closer and sure enough the mag had split..So I ordered a mag specifically for the 6.8 and when loaded will not go into the receiver, using a DPMS receiver???SSG Retired

Had a Bushmaster that split one time, sent it back and they sent me a new one

I assuming bad spot welds?

I had a Bushmaster 10rnd mag split on me once.

But since I tend to tap the back of the mag to settle the ammo inside, I figured I had it coming. Ordered a 20rnd D&H to replace it, so no major loss.

Well it was a Bushie mag so I will try to send it back, and I too always tap my mags that is what we were taught, course I still have to remember I'm not wearing a "Steel Pot" anymore, either...SSG Retired
